A desert like White Sands is profoundly beautiful in its smooth expansiveness. There is nothing like getting away to this remote part of New Mexico to appreciate the humbling wonders of nature. Not to mention shade, water, and everything else that isn't desert-related.

 

 

In the early 90's, I often sought refuge from the human experience in my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tent. Now, I prefer Methamphetamines.

 

 

I imagined that having seen countless photos of the Grand Canyon in my life, experiencing it for first would be no big deal. But when that moment came, all I could utter was a string of profanities. No confessions of inspired poetry. Unless "Holy living shit. Oh my God-damn big wow. I mean jeez fuck wow" can count as a haiku.

 

 

Note to self: when taking pictures of the hawk....
